Help Save Percy

Percy

If you’ve been in the café in the last week, chances are you met Percy and his four siblings. This sweet group has already been through so much in their short lives.

They were rescued with their mom from Bay Shore about five months ago — a litter of six. When the kittens were first brought in for vaccinations and SNAP testing, one of the litter sadly tested positive for FeLV. Although that kitten was separated immediately, he passed away two months later. Out of an abundance of caution, the remaining five kittens and their mom were retested every 5–6 weeks, three separate times, to ensure they were all truly negative — which they thankfully were.

Now about nine months old, the five came to Catpurrccinos, and our guests instantly fell in love. Percy quickly became a favorite. He loved curling up on the couch, sitting in laps, and purring up a storm. He and his siblings have already received many adoption applications.

Earlier this week, however, we noticed Percy wasn’t eating and was becoming lethargic. We immediately pulled him from the café and brought him to his foster, who then rushed him to our vet. Bloodwork showed that his bilirubin levels were dangerously high — extremely concerning in cats.

Today, Percy had an ultrasound, which revealed fluid in his chest, suggesting that this could be FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis).

Percy is now hospitalized, and we are beginning treatment with GS injections, a protocol lasting approximately 83 days. We have seen great success with GS in the past, and we are hopeful Percy will respond just as well — but this treatment is very costly.

This is not how we wanted to start 2026. Not by a long shot.

If you are able to help support Percy’s past and future medical care, we would be incredibly grateful. Every dollar truly makes a difference for him.
